Tommy Stack

Tommy took out his training license in 1988 and is widely recognized as one of the best trainers in the country. Tommy runs his training establishment on 210 acres of land in Thomastown Castle in Golden, County Tipperary. Tommy is assisted by his son Fozzy.

Tommy came to the fore in the late eighties when Corwyn Bay won the first running of the Cartier Million in 1988. He went on to enjoy great success winning the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket with Las Meninas in 1994 and Tarascon wining 1000 Guineas at the Curragh in 1998 Tommy also won the Irish Lincolnshire twice with Battle Standard in 1991 and again in 2004 with Tolpuddle. He also sent the Juvenile Filly Fearless Flyer to land the grade 3 Natalama stakes in Toronto in 2004 while Berenson finished 2nd in the national stakes. He then sent out 15 winners in the 2005 Flat Season the highlight being Alexander Alliance wining the Flame of Tara listed stakes and Bali Royal winning the Rockingham Handicap.

Tommy trained 16 winners during the 2006 Flat Season from 123 runners, giving him a very impressive strike rate of 13%, bettered only by Aiden O'Brien (21%, 63 winners from 306 runners), John Ox (19%, 57 winners from 306 runners). Dermot Weld (17%, 68 winners from 389 runners) and Kevin Prendergast (16%, 52 winners from 322 runners). The highlight of last season was Drayton winning his 2 Listed Races (Coolmore Stakes, Curragh and the Isabel Morris Stakes also at the Curragh).
